Trump Urges Netanyahu to Ease West Bank Tensions
The discussion took place Monday in Florida, with Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, and Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner also present. Sources cited by the media outlet revealed that the White House fears a violent escalation in the West Bank could jeopardize the implementation of the Gaza peace agreement and hinder the expansion of the Abraham Accords before the end of Trump’s term.
Trump and his team reportedly urged Netanyahu to refrain from provocative measures and to "calm things down."
The talks also touched on settler violence against Palestinian civilians, the financial instability of the Palestinian Authority, and the ongoing expansion of Israeli settlements.
One source noted that "Netanyahu spoke very strongly against settler violence and said he is going to take more action."
Following the meeting, Trump told reporters that while the US and Israel do not see eye to eye “100%” on the West Bank, both sides will eventually reach a resolution.
